What Has Congress Accomplished So Far in 2025? Not Much!

We are just 100 days into President Trump’s second term and his administration has accomplished a great deal thus so far. But what has Congress accomplished in that same amount of time? The answer may or may not surprise you.

Besides appearing on cable news shows, staging protests, traveling to foreign countries to support criminals, not too mention the infighting, has the GOP lead Congress accomplished anything at all in their first 100 days?

I asked ChatGPT this question and here was the response:

1. Laken Riley Act (Signed January 29, 2025): Mandates detention of undocumented immigrants charged with certain crimes and allows states to sue the Department of Homeland Security for non-enforcement.

2. Disapproval of EPA Methane Rule (March 14, 2025): Overturns an EPA rule on waste emissions charges for petroleum and natural gas systems.

3. Disapproval of Marine Archaeological Resources Rule (March 14, 2025): Overturns a Bureau of Ocean Energy Management rule on protecting marine archaeological resources.

4. Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025 (March 15, 2025): Provides funding for the federal government through September 30, 2025.

5. TAKE IT DOWN Act (Passed April 28, 2025): Criminalizes the distribution of non-consensual deepfake pornography and mandates prompt removal by online platforms. President Trump has expressed support and is expected to sign it into law.

In contrast to the limited legislative activity, President Trump has issued over 135 executive orders in his first 100 days of the second term, reflecting a strategic shift toward executive governance.

Here is a brief summary of what the Trump Administration has been able to accomplish in a very short time:

Executive Actions and Administrative Policies

President Trump has issued numerous executive orders and policy changes:

Immigration and Border Security:

  • Declared a national emergency at the southern border, deploying military resources.
  • Designated gangs like MS-13 as terrorist organizations, enhancing law enforcement tools.
  • Resumed border wall construction and expanded deportation initiatives.

Economic Measures:

  • Imposed tariffs: 25% on imports from Canada and Mexico, and 10% on Chinese goods.
  • Established the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, aiming to cut federal spending; however, some savings claims are disputed.

Education and Social Policies:

  • Revoked DEI mandates in federal contracts via Executive Order 14173.
  • Designated English as the official language of the United States.
  • Reformed student loan management, transferring oversight to the Small Business Administration and resuming collections on defaulted loans.

Foreign Policy and National Security:

  • Approved $50 million in military aid to Ukraine following a minerals agreement.
  • Imposed sanctions on members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel to combat drug trafficking and fuel theft.

Economic and Industrial Developments

The administration reports significant private sector investments:

  • Apple announced a $500 billion investment to create 20,000 U.S. jobs.
  • TSMC plans a $100 billion investment in U.S.-based semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Saudi Arabia intends to invest $600 billion in the U.S. over the next four years.

Why Do We Even Have a Congress?

Now, I’m not naïve to the fact that it is much more difficult to get things done in Congress, mostly because you have 100 Senators and 435 Congressmen that all have to work together. But only 1 bill (Laken Riley Act) actually signed into law in 100 days? And three actions taken over the course of two days (March 14 & 15)? What else do these people do?

The Trump administration has clearly shown us how government CAN run, that is if it is run like a business. Just the speed that Elon Musk and his DOGE team are moving to uncover fraud and waste in our government is astonishing to watch.

Congress on the other hand is asleep as usual. And what is equally frustrating in that the GOP controls both chambers! And yet, this is one of the laziest, most ineffective Congresses I have seen in my lifetime. I’d really like to see a “DOGE” type of accounting applied to each elected person serving in Congress as to what they do each day. I bet we’d see a whole lot of nothing!

GOP Congress members – you need to get busy in supporting and codifying President Trump’s agenda, an agenda that he was overwhelmingly elected on. This is especially crucial that you get busy NOW while the Democrats continue occupy their time with protests, support of criminals and just generally embarrassing themselves.
