I recently purchased a Vox Custom Classic AC15CC1 Guitar Amp so the Marshall Guitar Amp I’ve been using for the last several years has to go. Because I’m running POD XT Live effects, I no longer need the four channels as well as all the effects that the Marshall amplifier offers. So she’s up for sale.

If you are looking for a 150 watt Marshall Combo amp, this is your chance to get one at about two-thirds of what you’d pay for it brand new.

The Details

The amp is loaded with 2 x 12-inch 100W Celestion speakers, paired with the 150W (75 watt per speaker) Valvestate amplifier in a combo unit. This amp features 2 x 12ax7 preamp tubes as well as solid-state poweramp circuitry. There are 16 onboard FX channels, including several reverbs, delay, chorus, flange, and various permutations.

The amp features 4 channels – Acoustic Simulator, Clean, OD1 and OD2 along with 2 EQ sections – one for the clean channels, one for the OD channels. There is one Master volume, and one master presence knob. FX send/return, headphone out, mono/stereo emulated line out for direct recording.

Includes power cable, 6 button LED footswitch to select channel and engage/disengage effects and original manual.

This Marshall functions like new but there is some wear and tear on unit itself from light gigging (few scratches in vinyl on back and small tear on bottom).

I have more pictures at http://www.flickr.com/photos/david-wallace/sets/72157618749063770/.

How Much?

I’d like to get at least $650 for her. I paid almost a $1,000 brand new. If you are interested, send email to david [at] davidwallace.com or call me at 602-300-6927. I will not ship this amp so you have to be in the Phoenix area (sorry).

I’ve been in many themed restaurants over the years. In fact one of the best as far as having “stuff” hanging everywhere is Joe’s Crab Shack where you will find an amazing assortment of things to look at. However, I believe a restaurant I visited on my recent trip to Ohio tops them all for how far an eatery will go in it’s theming.

Quaker Steak & Lube (obviously coined after the Quaker State & Lube oil change stores) is a motor sports themed restaurant famous for their chicken wings available in a wide variety of sauces but also serving up steaks, chicken, and ribs. They have about 30 locations situated in several states back east including Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Florida to name a few. I had the pleasure of visiting the Columbus Ohio location and while there ate about 25 wings in various varieties, my favorite being the “Golden Garlic.”

Now allow me to focus on what was the highlight of my dining experience – the memorabilia. Not only did Quaker Steak & Lube have motor sports memorabilia all over the place such as hubcaps, old gas pumps, signs and the like, they had actual cars on lifts, hanging from the ceiling and even mounted on the walls. Don’t believe the last statement? Let the following pictures convince you.

No I did not tilt the camera – that is an old Vette mounted on the wall. Crazy!

If you love cars and bikes and are ever back east, make sure you find a Quaker Steak & Lube an pay them a visit. Not only do they have great food but you will be treated to a very unique dining experience.

The following is a humorous and somewhat exaggerated look at typical corporate policy. However with some corporate environments, this is not far off. Makes me happy that I work for a small company where I am the head honcho. Enjoy!

Policy Changes at Work
Effective January 2, 2008

To all Employees:

Dress Code

It is advised that you come to work dressed according to your salary. If we see you wearing Prada shoes and carrying a Gucci bag, we assume you are doing well financially and therefore do not need a pay raise.

If you dress poorly, you need to learn to manage your money better, so that you may buy nicer clothes, and therefore you do not need a pay raise.

If you dress just right, you are right where you need to be and therefore you do not need a pay raise.

Sick Days

We will no longer accept a doctor’s certificate as proof of sickness.
If you are able to go to the doctor, you are able to come to work.

Holiday Days

Each employee will receive 104 personal days a year. They are called Saturday & Sunday.

Bathroom Break

Entirely too much time is being spent in the toilet. There is now a strict three-minute time limit in the cubicles.

At the end of three minutes, an alarm will sound, the toilet paper roll will retract, the cubicle door will open, and your picture will be taken.

After your second offense, your picture will be posted on the company notice board under the “Chronic Offenders” category.

Anyone caught smiling in the picture will be sanctioned under the company’s mental health policy.

Lunch Break

Skinny people get 30 minutes for lunch, as they need to eat more so that they can look healthy.

Normal size people get 15 minutes for lunch to get a balanced meal to maintain their average figure.

Chubby people get 5 minutes for lunch, because that’s all the time needed to drink a Slim-Fast.

Thank you for your loyalty to our company. Remember we are an employer of choice and we are here to provide a positive employment experience.

Therefore, all questions, comments, concerns, complaints, frustrations, irritations, aggravations, insinuations, allegations, accusations, contemplations, consternation and input should be directed elsewhere.

Regards

We have been enjoying a really decent Shiraz called Jakes Fault which we get at the local Trader Joe’s for about $5 a bottle. You would think that at $5 a bottle you’d sacrifice taste and experience but not so with this wine. It’s the kind of Shiraz that goes great with the evening meal or all by itself. Everytime we go to Trader Joe’s, we pick up like 6 bottles or so. In fact Irma is out getting some right now.

Here are the tasting notes:

Description
A deep purple to ruby red color, this full-bodied, juicy, ripe Shiraz has just a hint of spice. Aromas of blueberry and black fruit mingle pleasantly with clove and sweet oak. The palate packs nice intensity, delivering jammy fruit flavors that keep on going.

Vintage
The beauty of a California appellation is that Jake can source his Shiraz from the best appellations to make a consistent, easy-drinking wine every year. In 2004, the growing season got off to a quick start in California, with an early bud break and a warm spring. Temperatures were moderate much of the growing season, with a heat spell in early September that pushed ripeness to optimal levels. Outstanding flavor and color development, and round rich tannins were the result of great hang time on the vines.

It’s probably only a matter of time before the price increases. Therefore I’m enjoying it while I can. They also have a pretty cool viral video on YouTube.

If you have never enjoyed this wonderful Thai soup, you don’t know what you are missing. Tom Kha Gai is a hot sweet soup made with coconut milk, lemon grass and chicken. The name literally translates to “boiled galangal chicken.” The fried chillies add a smoky flavor as well as texture, color and heat, but not so much that it overwhelms the soup.

We are fortunate enough to have a great little Thai restaurant in Anthem where we work and live. Its called Dara Thai Cafe and if they had a web site, I’d link to it. I kid you not, we order the soup for lunch at least twice a week, sometimes even three times. When I call it in, they know me by name.

So what is in this magical soup? Here are the typical ingredients:

Chicken (bite sized pieces)

Mushrooms (preferably straw mushrooms)

Shrimp (optional)

Coconut milk

Galangal (root)

Lemon grass

Kaffir lime leaves

Coriander

Sugar

Lime juice

Fish sauce

Small crispy fried chillies

A good Thai restaurant will leave the galangal, lemon grass and lime leaves in the soup. However, you don’t want to consume these. Just set them aside although I like to suck on the root briefly.

I admit it… my name is David and I am a Tom Kha Gaiaholic. At least its a healthy addiction!
